Title ^.
The motherboard should cost close to or less than $100 CAD. It should also be able to support the new Phenom II X6 1100.
Thanks for any help.

either an older Asus board for 100, or the Biostar 890FXE featuring the latest chipset is what i'd go for, given your constraints.

well the cheapest 870 MBs that I was eyeing for a while were consistently the asus m4a879 boards on newegg.ca , with tax/sh they were around $125>100

canadacomputers.com seems good for somethings too, thats where I got my asus 890 on xmas eve sale for $135 all inc

The am3 870 boards, and also the 880 MBs, don't have heatsinks on the voltage regulator/MOSFETS area though, they are pretty cheap to buy separate, maybe $20...if you want to OC a x6, or probably any 125/140W chip, you should have heatsinks like on the am3 790s or 890s

I don't really mind the tax but as long as the starting cost (without tax) is about $100. So what other boards would you recommend for AM3 CPUs. Is the Nvidia SLI boards good?

I have the biostar 890fxe and it works good and the price wasn't bad, my only complaint is you can only fit 2 2 slot graphics cards

ASUS makes a decent set of boards but if you are not Ocing BE chips I would stay away from them For some reason ASUS boards have terrible HTREF clocking capability with few exceptions.

Few boards are going to pass 300, but the M4 series had trouble past 250.

If you REALLY want to push htref clock, the MA790FXTA-UD5P I think is the only ddr3 board I saw capable of 400. I screwed up and got the non MA790FXT-ud5p... its stops about 310 on air. its the other one you will want.

GIGABYTE GA-870A-UD3 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
94.99 free shipping

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...=ga%20870a-ud3

I use it, i like it works great, I have pushed my chip to 4.2 on it. And ht goes to 320 before it wont boot.
If your going to do some serious overclocking on it thought, id reccomend the ezotech mst-88 mosfet heatsink And one more selling point the sli hack works great on it
