[Suggestions] Intel I7 870 vs AMD Phenom II X6

Hello everyone here at OCN
Im new here and a soon to be oc'er.
Im gonna build a gaming rig and i been facing some tough choices.
I want good performance from a reasonable price and cant decide what should i choose..
So imma leave the question to you guys and will wait for the suggestion and arguements.
The Phenom would cost me 200€ while the i7 would cost me 300€.
The Phenom processes 1 thread per core while the i7 does 2 per core.
Taking that in consideration the AMD is a really good choice and competition versus the i7.
But since idk what to buy im asking you to help me decide.

I'd wait for Q2 if at all possible to see how this Sandy/Bulldozer quarrel pans out.
Das Rig, Ja?

i would go i5 760 over the i7 870

Personally, I'd go with the PHII X6 over both of those. Six real cores and a great overclocker. Take a look at my sig.

dont knoow about anyone else......but i love my i7 870.....but it is not wise to take it now coz now u should go the sb route i5 2500k(i know about the sata controller prob and it ain't as big as everyone is making it......some may probably never notice it coz people tend to change their h/w often)an sb clock for clock is 8% faster than the lynfeild/bloomfeild(i5/i7 8xx/i7 9xx)..........and amd is not the price to performance king now......taing 6 weak cores is not a gud idea better invest in sb and replace the board a few months down the line(its not a proccy prob)...........hope this helps......
if u want to stick with ur choices then i would say neither...take an i5 760 if its for gaming purpose(it waill have same gaming perf. as i7 870 and more than x6)...........

either way the board will be replaced after like 6 months
dont rly wanna keep a low budget board since they tend to leave me limited
thats why im leaving laptops behind
im limited to buy a new laptop if i want some decent frames
the i5 is a possibility...
the computer would be for multi purposes since im working in the software area i need a cpu capable of delivering what i need kinda fast

i got stuck on deciding which processor would give me a good performance taking in consideration its price
i7=8 threads/4 cores x6=6 threads/6 cores

i5 is still a possibility and in the future instead of buying a 1156 board would buy a 1366 and a 6 core i7 lol

waiting would be annoying since im stuck with 1280x800 and an ati HD3650 for over 3 years
even watching 1080p movies(using hdmi output) my laptop gpu tends to break or freeze a bit
depending on the movie
and yes i want to play games on it with a good quality

for the 1156 u can buy a xeon for that mobo its just like a i7 950
