Speedfan killed my rig

Thread Starter
Well I decided to install speedfan so I could control the fan speeds on my #4 and 5 mobo outputs and it shutdown my rig after the first time I opened the program, while it's scanning the bus. No blue screen or anything just shuts off like you pulled the plug out. Then it will not post after, I have to power it on twice before it will boot. I though it was maybe due to MBM5 running so I shut that off and tried again, same result. The crappy thing is now windows takes an extra bar to load and I get a U.S. Raid services error when I load to the desktop. Man I'm choked. Any ideas how to fix the speed fan issue or the raid error? Thanks all.

Sorry to hear about the troubles mate. Have you already uninstalled speedfan? Try booting into safemode and uninstall anything in the registry. Check the raid settings in the bios, some of the options may have become changed if any system files became corrupt. Any other symptoms from speedfan?

First reset CMOS. Then reboot and boot into safe mode to see if all your files are okay. If you get into safe mode ok, and all your desktop icons are still there and programs, then your disk wasn't badly damaged or anything like that. Next I would right click on your hard drives, click properties, click tools, click check now under error checking. When the next window comes up, click both boxes that say "automatically fix file system errors", and " scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors."

When that is done, boot back up and see if everything is okay. If this didn't work, reboot in safe mode again and try a system restore, always worth a try.

Let me know if this doesn't work

The file structure and everything are ok. I'll try the error checking to see if that fixed the error when I load to the desktop.

Go into safemode also and get rid of Speedfan and MBM5 to stop any conflicts. Also OS files could have been damaged,Not likley but i will suggest it anyway. To replace damaged or missing OS files place a Windows XP cd in your Optical drive and then in the run command bar type ''SFC /SCANNOW''. Now the procedure in which fies are checked and replaced will begin.

Will this prompt me to reload the raid drivers aswell? I only ask that because they came off the floppy not the cd.

I don't trust speed fan.....I don't know why its so highly recommened, it was missreading my 12v rails and my CPU temps. (I checked in my BIOS, and with Everest.)

Maybe, but I did have it running on this board a few months ago.
