Help with first time overclocking?

Thread Starter
I am trying to overclock my AMD processor using the bios, but I seem to be running into a few problems. When I go into the overclocking menu, (Just w00t), it asks for a voltage, which i set to the stock, the multiplier, which i increase by .5, and then it asks for NB fid and NB vid, and it stumps me. If i leave their values at zero, the machine won't boot. Any idea what these mean?

Thanks

You should be able to keep your voltages stock for a mild overclock...

Leave the NB voltages at [AUTO], if you have that option.

With that 9600, you'll be LUCKY, and I mean very lucky, to break 2.4-2.5GHz stable. Not even worth the time honestly. And that's with 1.50-1.55v through it.

It doesn't allow for auto, it justs asks for a two digit number, like

NB FID [00]
NB VID [00]

I would refer to your motherboard manual to see what 'stock' values are... I'm not sure if by putting 00 your cutting off power? or what... If you don't have the manual try to search for one online for the model of your MB... So you absolutely have to put in a value while increasing the multiplier?

My motherboard documentation says nothing about it, and neither does the internet. It gives me stock values, but i believe that they need to be changed in order to overclock, because if I leave them at stock, which is something like 00 and 18, then the overclock has literally no effect in multiplies or voltage

You dont need more voltage is the thing... so your saying if you put the stock voltage values in then it doesn't apply your overclock of bumping multiplier up by .5?

Yup, when i boot up and check cpu-z, the values are the same.
