Not saying it's right... it's not to protect themselves now (it's too late!), it's just to take revenge. Like some angry kid whose favourite candy you stole: he'll ask his cop father to jail the crap out of you even if it's too late for the said candy. Sony should be above that I think, and take that opportunity to find a way to sell more hardware (sure they're mainly doing profit on software but hey, you don't always get what you want).

Basically: Sony is in its own right, but still that's not the best reaction, it's almost stupid actually.
wow so this is how it like to be sigged? i like it

That's what you're saying essentially & it's laughable.
Jailbraking or Rooting your phone is completely different than causing a detrimental security hole in a gaming platform.

Again, you and your like minded ilk don't care about everyone else that now has to put up with hackers in-game. You just care about yourself and your silly ideals that Sony is the bad guy in all of this, when clearly Geohot and his crew are responsible for ruining millions of people's entertainment, piracy of games, and escalated phishing schemes.

Great job screwing everyone else over!

Quit Complaining.
Why is it a no-no? Please don't point me in the direction of a EULA or TOS. Use your brain, what are they trying to protect, how is jail-breaking a PS3 I bought even going to remotely harm Sony.

Then return the product after you actually take a look at what you have to agree to in order to use it, or just save yourself a trip to the store and read the terms on a website posted by some other individual who has "done nothing wrong."
EULA and TOS mean absolutely nothing accept the fact that they have legal grounds to terminate service to you. If i write a contract with you that states I get to murder you if you don't deliver me a pizza in 10 minutes and you sign it that does not mean I get to murder you without punishment from law.

In short: Just because I sign a EULA or TOS agreement does not mean a company is able to do anything by law to me for violating a such a "users" contract.

Your saying a dildo company can take you to court for using their dildo on a man when it clearly states in the terms of agreement that it is only to be used on women? GMAFB when you buy something it becomes yours, use it however you please. Your argument is so silly, these EULA and TOS agreements have been thrown around as legally binding contracts witch have been thrown out of courts time and time again is complete and utter horse****.

How about I sign a contract with you that states you can shoot me in the head and kill me, then you can present to the courts our "agreement" and see if they wont laugh at you.

For all the people arguing about using Dildos on men instead of women, there is only ONE reason that Sony can even bring a suit. That is the DMCA.

Before the DMCA precedent was that you could use a device you owned any legal way you wanted. The DMCA changed it, breaking DRM, even to do something legal like homebrew, became illegal. The DMCA is one of the worst pieces of legislation passed in the last decade.

What ?

Who/What is GRAF???

Who said anything about "Legally" being the ONLY viable option when you have billions of dollars sitting in your pocket?? (Would you be scared, regardless of which country you lived in?)

Let's say, hypothetically that Sony is "Going out" as the above poster states, which isn't an unreal possibility, so who wins by shelling out money to court battles against anonymous losers who are probably broke in the first place??

All this to make what point?? "You can't touch this?"

And if the courts rule against Sony?

or

If Sony wins (or is that Whines?) and the person they sue has no money, then what do you win??? (A $10 a month payment / month, WOOHOO!)

How did they get a court order to obtain material from the "Accused"?

Don't you have to bring criminal charges against them first, officially, and wouldn't that require jail time, no?

If this is an international event, just how much power does "Sony" and other "Corporations like Sony" have across the world???

This entire indecent brings a lot of questions to my mind, how about yours???

==========================

I can't see anything good coming out of this, or did Sony not get the memo?
"It's expensive to pursue International Legal Battles, VERY EXPENSIVE"...

And if the accused fights them tooth and nail to the bitter end, ouch, that's gonna hurt some more!

Or worse, what if the DMCA reverse the law in light of the said actions (childishness?)??
===========================

What if this spurs the rebels to rebel more & more???

Did you win Sony?

NO YOU FAIL!

This is actually false. It used to be that way prior to the DMCA but now just the act of breaking DRM is illegal and can be punished.
