And Sony can do whatever they want with the Software. You signed the EULA agreeing that you would not reverse engineer the OS, and that you would accept any modifications to the OS that Sony released. So, no, you're in the wrong, whether you want to accept it or not. Reality is reality, logic is logic. You and 99% of the people in this thread fail to comprehend this.
Thats exactly what I thought; he's lucky we're not in the 15th century anymore, a shinobi would've sliced his throat long time ago..

I Approve!

And the lord said: "Let there be light!"

And then the people seen the truth, and Sony, well...

They're the devil...

or is it Devil May Cry 7 now?

Geohot did NOT threatened Sony. The first thing you did wrong was use quotes while writing words he never actually said or wrote.

The second thing wrong is that his full comment was something along the lines of "If you want your next console to be secure give me a call, any of you".

He was directing his comment at ANY console manufacturer. He never said he wouldn't release this if Sony gave him a job. This is just Sony trying to build a case out of nothing.

Sony is lucky we aren't in Ancient ROME where the MOB Ruled...

or they would have nothing left, not even their integrity, if they still have that..

I"M NOT SAYING IT"S RIGHT, WHAT THESE PEOPLE DID...

I am saying...

It takes a bigger man to walk away....

But if Sony wants to play the spoiled (billionare) brat and enter legal battles because they are emotionally shallow and cannot overcome, well....

They deserve what is about to come to them...

And that pretty much boils down to LOSS!

NOBODY WINS IN THINGS LIKE THIS...

You stain your rep..

Make the fix and END IT, end of discussion, end or problem, or are you not capable of fixing the issue?

So why publicly humiliate & decimate few anonymous losers to make a point? (You won't get any money, get real with yourself!)

YOU HAVE TOO MUCH TO LOSE IN THIS FIGHT!

I'm not saying they are stupid, but why crawl into an emotional shell & call your legal department to prove a point?

Seems like you have the wrong people running your company, really..

=====================

Obviously Microsoft has a bigger man working for them, they can take it and they aren't Corporate Evil Giants either...
I applaud Microsoft's reaction to the problems it face(s) or (ed), we will just fix it, or find a solution to end it, no need to get nasty over this whole thing..

If this gets out of hand the legislation could be reversed, and then Sony would be looking VERY SILLY indeed...

I can see them standing there with 20 lawyers, all these litigation papers in their hands, with there mouth hanging out...

====================

The sad thing about Justice though, well, that's for sale....

& of course...

The golden rule..

He who has the gold, makes the rules...

====================

Then there is the other side of the fence, where all those Software Companies lay, the ones WHO ARE REALLY STANDING TO LOSE THE MOST...

I mean the customer already paid for your machine Sony, so zip it you big whining collection of brats...

Well, the software companies on the other hand, they are the ones who should be the ones crying, NOT YOU SONY...

So where is the Software Maker's justice in all of this?? STOLEN BY SONY.... go figure...

I don't think they're playing the spoiled billionaire at all; developers wouldn't be exited to know the platform's owner they're coding for doesn't care if their code gets pirated.. It's common sense, better piss off some people away from buying the product than the developers that code what makes the console attractive, games..

No, it's actually quite the very same exact thing in principle.
Both making use of a security flaw to do something they should be able to do natively with the hardware that they purchased.

I wonder if hackers are ever gonna go to the 360, it's easier to hack, and it'll break in a month anyways so you've got nothing to loose
