That link makes no mention of 'rampant hacking' going on in online games. It simply states what we already knew: that the exploit GeoHot created allows you to do whatever you want on the hardware.

The main issue here is that the devs were relying on the anti-cheat software to be run client side.

Yes, it blows, but such are the drawbacks of freedom.

EULAs are only legally binding to services Sony provides after sale, PSN, Warranty's and Firmware updates are all I can think of, the EULA lets them legally stop providing me those services, but doesn't legally let them sue me for doing what I want with my hardware.

This is like if Dell sued all its users who decided to upgrade their version of Windows without buying the copy from Dell or put Linux on a Dell machine, completely absurd.

Again, you and your like minded ilk don't care about everyone else that now has to put up with hackers in-game. You just care about yourself and your silly ideals that Sony is the bad guy in all of this, when clearly Geohot and his crew are responsible for ruining millions of people's entertainment, piracy of games, and escalated phishing schemes.

Great job screwing everyone else over!
Sorry, but even before the PSJailbreak USB stick thing was released, hackers were pretty common on PSN, they were no more common than they are now at least, I don't get your point, considering Geohots stuff for PSN is used only for hobbyist hacking, others used the same security hole (Which, by the way, that same Key was released on Twitter by a Sony employee recently) to do the stuff you've mentioned.

Also, I don't see how millions of peoples entertainment is ruined by a handful of users putting Linux on their PS3, or putting on a new version of the Sony OS from a hacker who has made it better for use as a media player and DVR? Please, get over yourself and stop enjoying the corporate shafting, I've seen more truthful and realistic stuff with less hyping come from Fox News, for god sakes.

And what about non-american users and hackers?
Also, he didn't break DRM, he's using Sony's official key, the DRM is still all there and unbroken.

If you Jailbreak a phone, it's for personal use. If you Jailbreak a PS3, you have wide open access to wreak havoc in other people's games. End of story. So, please, go ahead and quote one minor part of this post, because that's all you're capable of doing.
You do realize that security breaches for hackers were common in the PS3 already? They'd release an update that fixed one, but introduced another...This isn't really going to change anything.

And I don't see how me putting Linux on my PS3, or a new XMB with additional codecs and game emulators and the like allows me to have "wide open access to wreak havoc in other people's games" while still not being for personal use, the hackers already had access for one thing...Hence why I saw some guy somehow making a Fiat 500 go faster than my Pagani Zonda on GT5 before the jailbreak was released, also, you shouldn't call people out on stuff you're doing, by the way, it makes you look foolish.

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

Hacking was prevalent on the PS3 (And XBL for that matter) before this hack was released.

This is for personal use too, Sony can legally stop anyone who jailbreaks their PS3 access from PSN, (The only way the EULA can really be legally binding) GeoHot wanted Linux back on his PS3, not piracy, (Or he'd have added piracy support straight away, it's not that difficult to enable it, y'know.) plus, if I want to use my PS3 as a DVR (And have support for more codecs than the PS3 does support at the moment, as well as game emulators and PS2 backwards compatibility which my Slim has never had and never will according to Sony) or install Linux on it, how is that not personal use? If I install Linux on my PS3, does it automatically add a bot into every game currently being played on PSN that hacks and is a douche to everyone?

By your logic, we may as well destroy all PCs as some people use them to download PC games illegally, as well as music, movies, etc, they're not for personal use like posting on forums and stuff, they're just for piracy.

Not a word about game hacking, also, just so you know, when they say hackers...They mean coders, like Richard Stallman or Linus Torvalds, you know? People who write code as a hobby.

Sony. Can. Make. A. Way. To. Detect. Jailbroken. Firmware. And. Ban. Those. PS3s. From. PSN.

Microsoft only does that for XBL, plus its legally fine in the EULA to do that, I agree that jailbroken PS3s should be exempt from any Sony services (Eg. Firmware updates, Warranty, PSN, etc) but I really disagree that every jailbroken PS3 is going to be used for hacking and the like as you seem to think, otherwise PC hacking would be much more common.

See i wouldnt mind being able to run a OS on the PS3 that fully supported Flash and Java, play all video files etc - But i would end up downloading and installing games for free, im sure of it.

So im going to leave my PS3 as a Media Center everyone knows how to use and stay clear of sony's wrath

I think Sony is taking such serious tactics because obviously they have found the holy grail of a security hole on the PS3, that cannot be patched.

Sony is obviously trying to stop anyone in their tracks from continuing development and figuring it out completely.

It's obvious that the door is open and someone is about to step inside the proverbial ps3 security hole erm... door.
