Right, so it'd be a better idea to just sit back and do nothing right? I hope all of you saying "this is why i wont get a sony product" or "i hate sony now" are just trolling because that's just silly. Sure, you may "own" the PS3 but nowhere does it say you can go and download games for free. Chances are, whatever protection scheme the ps3 uses is what they were banking on in the future and they don't want their later products to fall under the same hacks. And let's be honest. Who is honestly jailbreaking just to play super mario or use stupid homebrew? Everyone is doing it to play PS3 games for free, and sony clearly isn't having any of that anymore.

I bet the same people bashing sony now are the same ones who bashed microsoft when they started issuing xbox bans.

If you back-engineered their ECU firmware make a hack that removed the speed limiter, and then released it to the public, I'm pretty sure they would sue you.

The governor is easily removed and has been for a while. And they didn't sue.

lol your seriously saying this, as if this hasn't been the base of most modifying for decades now.

On some cars you need to just clip a wire going into the ecu to achieve this.

Bad example, removing the speed limiter does not impede future profits from the manufacturer.

A better example may be cracking the ECU and rolling back the mileage to stay in warranty. That in itself doesn't take money from the manufacturer (hacking), the dishonesty of the user taking the car to the dealership for repairs knowing the car is out of warranty does(downloading games).

If I recall correctly, the issue is not about being jailbroken (though it might be under the surface) but it is about the fact that code was reverse engineered and released without permission in the hacks. If it was a simple glitch that allowed you to do something like this it probably wouldn't have gotten this sort of reaction.

This is why I hate Sony and always will they make POS products and their corporate attitude is just pompus along with hardcore Sony fanboys.

Everything I ever had or used that was Sony was crap and broke and it aint just bad luck thats why I cant figure it out.

And I always knew something like this would turn out this way because they dont care about the consumers.

I never buy anything Sony anymore. All they are good for is releasing junk proprietary standards and overrated consumer products.

Sony = Bose
