sandy bridge system booting issues

Thread Starter
I just build a system using the new i7 sandy brigde processor, the issue I am having is when I power on the system, I get one short beep out of the pc speaker with no video, after a minute it resets with the same beep, I have tried a different video card and then it boots.

So, then I tried the gtx 470 card in another system and i nthat system the card worked fine, I have found that the system will boot with the gtx 470 if I pull out the tv tuner but in some cases running the memory at 1600Mhz (its design speed) the no video boot issue cand then I have to clear the cmos which defaults the memory back to 1333Mhz, I have tried changing the dram voltage from 1.5 to 1.65 volts with no luck, the ram is suppose to run at 1.65volts which I understand this is a problem with sandy bridge.

I'm trying to figure out if I need to swap out the ram or if this is a isssue with the graphic card or tv tuner.

Anyone have any ideas on this?

Thanks!
Andy

Try a different power supply, Jonny Guru says your PSU is poop.

Default your ram to 1.5v and run at JEDEC spec, if it doesn't wrong then something is wrong. Most boards should accept 1.65v, I know my board will take 1.65v with no problem.

It does make sense that the PSU might be the cause since the system boots fne with everything install with my old gt 8500 since the gtx 470 pulls a lot more.

My motherboard does give me the option to set it to 1.65volts, ill have to look into setting it to jedec specs.

Thanks for the help!
