I think you'd be better off if you simply saved up your money starting now and bought and built a system from scratch. Especially since the system you're starting with is non-standard in terms of PSU size, etc.

I know that's probably not what you want to hear, but it's probably the best thing. Maybe look into getting a used system off OCN? A lot of people are still selling off their old LGA775 stuff, you could get a decent Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad system for cheap with a decent GPU. Not ultra cheap, but something decent for $500 isn't out of the question.
