What's the difference between a refrigerator and a phase change cooling system some of the extreme overclockers use?

In theory they are one and the same. Correct?

I understand if you leave a refrigerator door open all sorts of bad things will happen. But what are the phase changers doing differently?
refrigerator compressors are not designed to run constantly. They turn on and off, as I'm sure you can here. Phase change compressors are designed to run constantly and thus have no problem.

Ah, so main difference is just the type of compressor?

The mechanics are the same... the design requirements are not.

It's like comparing a sports car to an 18-wheeler. Both are vehicles but suited for completely different purposes.

Yeah... even so, why would you want to place a heat-generating system in an insulated enclosure?

Mahahaha
Im bringing this back up...
Sorta...
Sorry

I was thinking of putting 2 240mm rads in the back of a mini-fridge. Id keep the fridge under a workstation desk.

Will the Radiators get hot enough to cause problems?
I intend to keep beer in this fridge at all times, would'nt want my beer warm
Keep them mountains blue!!!

ofc there would be room for airflow.

A refrigerator is not meant to cool something that puts off consistent heat. You would just heat up the fridge..

if I put Icy-Hot on my processor without a heat sink will it cool it then heat it up really quickly? Or will it keep it cool?

I just thought I'd ask because thats were it seems where this thread is going.
