Wanting to go Sandy Bridge, but I'm lost. Help me build?

I was going to go i7, but I bought other things instead. But now I really want to upgrade, having those non-upgrading blues.

Okay, I work with my computer for at least 8-10 hours a day, I'm not ashamed. It's what I love to do. I really want to go Intel, hopefully their latest.

I want to build an Intel rig like I said, but I've never gone Intel, or worked with Intel, so I'm really lost.

I need the following: Mobo, CPU, and RAM. Everything else I'm bringing over from my sig rig, except the cooler. For cooler I plan to go Corsair H60. Heard it works wonders on all types of i7s and can help you easily hit 4.0ghz.

What I primarily do on the PC:

-Play games, that's the main thing.
-Render HD videos
-Work with Photoshop, high resolution images, etc.

That's what I mainly do, really.

My budget: This is hard to say, especially since things change, and money is always an issue. I'm going to say the most I can spend including shipping on checkout would be $600. Anything above it would be hard to manage... really hard.

Thanks to whoever helps. I really appreciate it.

-- Oh, and I will definitely want to overclock it. Nothing "extreme". I'd just definitely like to be able to have a 24/7 4.0ghz OC.

Thanks for the post, I'd appreciate links though, if you don't mind. I'm really bad when it comes to searching on my own with hardware and its compatibility.

While you can currently get motherboards from various locations, most retailers have taken them out of their listings due to the recent recall by Intel regarding their P67 chipset. Apparently, over volting or some gibberish carried a noticeable potential for some of the sata ports to eventually degrade (estimated at over a three year period).

They are releasing a new batch of motherboards probably sometime late in Feb. or early / mid April. By that time though, it'll only be a few months before the newest Ivy Bridge CPU will be out, and Intel will release the new "Cougar Point" (I think) chipset. What performances this will offer, I'm not quite sure.

Any P67 motherboard will work with any SB processor and ANY DDR3 ram as long as it isn't above 1.65v

Done.

Hmm, okie dokes.

Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131682

^ My best choice. Love the new BIOS... But it's apparently not available anywhere.

Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231335

CPU: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0354587

Cooler: Corsair H60

That look good?

Price is fair, I can do it. Especially since the rig won't be built for another 2 months, so prices may drop a bit.

Good stuff. It looks like it's going to be a solid build. I've always like the G. Skill Eco series for their low voltage, decent timings, and nice overclocking potential. Try giving those a look at.

Awesome, thanks for your input.

Funny you mention Eco, I was actually going to chose Eco, but I decided it'd be better in the long run to go 6GBs with what I do rather than 4GBs.

If your not going to build it for another 2 months just wait for bulldozer
They're usually the best cpu for budget builds

As it was previously said, all SB and P67/H67 sales are suspended until around April. We could give you recommendations, but the truth is nobody confirmed if they'd release the same boards with the bug fixed, or different boards altogether. That's why a recommendation now is risky proposal, you don't know if you'll actually be able to find that board in April or if its replacement would be as good.
