Power supply needs to be upgraded maybe a good 850watt or 1000watt if you can but overall your system is non stoppable.

I don't think so, you might need like a 1000 watts since the GTX 480 sucks up a lot of power.

Perhaps I should go with a 1000w just to be safe. Any suggestions on a good (affordable) power supply would be appreciated.

How reliable is the Cooler Master Silent Pro 1000w?

750W is cutting it. I've seen maybe 2 people's sig rigs running 480 SLI with 750W. But from what I've seen from the PSU forum, 850 should be fine. 1000 is over estimating.
the cards and the system only draw 624 watts at the wall. With and 80% efficiency, that is about 500 watts inside the case. So your PSU will be more then enough for 2 cards.

Don't listen to the guys saying you need 850 watts or 1000watts, they are wrong.

Would I cause any damage if I tried running the 2 cards with my 750w PSU? Just to see if its stable or not

You'd get more information if you had posted in the PSU section.

Recommended Power Supplies

EDIT: If it won't work, I think it just won't boot up. Don't know if any damage will occur.

480's sli pull like 600 on load so 750 should be ok, but 850 would deffinately give you more wiggle room
