is my rig enough for GTX480 SLI? - Page 8

I'm running a Q9550 @ 3.9GHz and GTX480 @ 850/1025MHz 1075mV on a CM Real Power M620 which has only 520W on 12+ rail (43A) an it has been ROCK SOLID in everything erom Furmark 20min to OCCT GPU test and Power Supply test..

And as I feel it my PSU is not being pushed to the max (no overheating, fan ramping up,no stability issues)

Now OP has extra 250W of pure power on 12+ rail and that PSU can even deliver up to 850W of real power on 12+ rail without any issues whatsoever..

So I think that his 750W PSU is plenthy for that combo..

CHEERS..

well to all you say the OP needs a bigger PSU....

i ran my entire system that i have now off a Coolermaster GX750 for 6 months with no issues...

with a my current SIG and current sig OCs...

I only went for the 1000w due to my mate upgrading his PSU and selling this one cheap

You will be fine... enjoy your 480s in SLI

Do you guys think that the CoolerMaster 900 UCP is enough for my cards at stock speed? how about at 825/2000 overclock on the cards? I think it would be fine, but I thought i would check.

I'm pretty sure if your overclocking the gpus and with an overclocked cpu, you'll want a 850+ psu.

The powersupply will not cut it, 1000w or more is the only thing. I know because i dealt with a poweruspply that wouldn't work with overclocked gtx480's. It was an older Quattro 1000w. I replaced it with a new 1000w Quattro and now everything is solid.

Two GTX480 in SLI pull around 480W in games/3DMark11 etc only in Furmark they pull ~620W which is totally unrealistic.. CLICK HERE FOR REVIEW..

And that PSU has 720W of pure power on 12+ rail (60Amps)..

So for everyday usage (gaming etc, everything beside Furmark) that PSU will hold his system perfectly well..

You should be/mostly be safe if you do not run overclock on your GPU and CPU.

You will likely blow everything up sooner or later with your CPU oc'd and GPU oc.

Heck, I dumpped a AX750 for the same resaon.

It's always better to run it safe than save some marginal money on one of the most important part of a PC. Plus, you not gonna upgrade you PSU once a year if you have a quality one.
