Hours of a headache, but I prevailed

So I assembled my new rig a couple of days ago but was waiting on the Silver Arrow to come in. Well it arrived. Boy was this thing a pain in the butt to install...

First I tried to do it with the mobo in the case, no such luck. The backplate would not fit trough the cutout in my case so I had to remove the case. I figured I would attach the backplate and stick the mobo back in. What a horrible idea this was as well. With the AMD socket the bracket for the heatsink is just ridiculous. The screw positioning is right under the heatsink itself so there is no effective way to tighten the screws from the top.

So after taking the mobo out a 2nd time, I install the heatsink. You think this ended my headache right? Wrong. I had to leave out the fans when putting the mobo back in because they would cover up screw holes which are used to tighten the mobo to the case.

So here I am, heatsink is installed, mobo back in the case and now I am trying to attach the fans. The mounting brackets for this thing's fans re ridiculous. I cut myself on the heatsink trying to connect the center fan at the bottom.

All in all, since it was the first time I installed this thing, it was a headache. Now that I know all of the little issues with it, a 2nd time around would be a walk in the park!

All in all though, well worth all the troubles. This thing runs like a champ, my cpu is not even hitting 50C under load @ 4.2, and... and I may catch some crap for this... I think this thing looks awesome!

Here is a couple of quick cell phone snaps, crap quality, but then again a half blind man could spot this massive thing.

I'm about to go throw my NH-D14 on my new build in a bit, about the last thing I have yet to do.

Fortunately my Mobo was out of the case when I put the backplate on and I've had no headache's yet.

Did slice my finger pretty decent just taking it out of the box though.

Yeah those heatsinks are something else. I heard the NHD14 was a bit easier to install however, but I may be wrong. I wanted one, but no stores around here had them and I did not feel like paying extra shipping to get it sooner than a week as I had the rest of my build ready.

Good luck with the install and just remember, keep your hands away from the heatsink fins, haha.
