I bought an asus GTX 480 for £200. Thats £75 in my pocket as well a product from a premium brand.

So for £75 less, I get a card that performs very similar and maybe better in very high spec games. Downside is heat and noise but I can close my eyes on that for £75.
i don't think i would ever want a 480 consider it's a mini heater....

unless i can get a msi lightening for £275 or other ones with awesome cooler or h20 cooling.
480 waaaay too hot, not for humans, good luck on the £75 u got, you better get a good cooler or else it's gonna reach 100C in the summer, unless you live in Antarctica

480s just don't run as hot as people seem to think, if you have ever owned a 295 co-op, that is hot. My 480s folding overclocked don't get anywhere near the 295 temps, I've never seen 80° even in a warm ambient.

Right now loaded for the last 2 weeks folding the max temp of the hottest card is 68° in a 21° ambient.

The 570 does run cooler with similar performance (I think the 570 is slightly higher performance to be honest), but the suicidal VRMs do concern me. I like to push a gpu hard & some of the 570s don't seem to like being pushed.

570 fanboys, we had this thread, guess ya missed it. We proved 570 does not own the 480, as a 480 at 925 core beat a 570 at 950 core, I would get the 570 however, unless the 480 is cheaper. Then 480 all the way. hail to the King, baby.

Read through this thread 570 owners.

So why do you think the Metro2033 video shows the Minimum FPS on the GTX 570 to be half of what they actually are?

Throttling(?).

Edit: Its a guess not a proven fact (felt the need to add the ? as I have nothing to back up my thoughts).

What Balla said, hard to know, could of just been that particular bench with those drivers, but in the 570 thread, no 570 could beat my 480, Capwn could of probably won, however it would of been his 1000 core vs my 925. I think FTW 420 said one he had a 480 that could do 1000 core and man that thing probably screamed,

As a 570 owner that owns an AXP I'd definetely have gone for the 480 if I could go back, just for the durability if nothing else.
