Sata2 --> Sata3 (crucial c300)

post #1 of 14
Thread Starter
Hi,

Will i see a big increase in speed going from sata2 to sata3 for my crucial c300? Is it worth it?

Current mobo is the Asus p7p55d. Possible upgrade is the asus p7p55d premium.

Thx

absolutely, the difference between a C300 on Sata2 and Sata3 are quite large.

About 50-80Mb/s read speed
post #3 of 14
Dunno, if you can feel any real-world difference. As an SSD is already really fast, even while using a SATA II port.

But synthetic benchmarks are another thing....

Generally gain about 80-90 MB/sec sequential reads.
Other than that, really no difference.

Depending on the SATA controller you may lose performance in other areas.

In any scenario, day to day use you really won't notice a difference.

I don't realy care for benchmarks, all i want is the fastest boot i can get and get the most out of my ssd without wasting too much money.

I doubt you'll see any difference at all. The vast majorty of drive access is random, not sequential. If you're doing some specific task where sequential reads occur a lot then it might be worth it.

No it isnt worth it the only increase you will see will be in sequential read speeds in everything else you will see a decrease in performance on the drive.
