I play everything in moderation and I would probably pwn you in both. Your attitude is useless, and you obviously didn't read my post. Both game series have their merits and are great games.

BC2 takes alot more work to become moderately proficient in. I was frequently a top player in COD4 and yet when I started BC2, I frankly was terrible for quite awhile. I almost gave up on the game outright. I eventually persevered to the point where i am half way decent but it was a frustrating learning curve compared to the much more arcade style games in the COD series.
I believe that most of that "learning curve" was joining in without increased damage bullets, body armor, just as much as it was learning the maps. Finally getting to shoot someone and then not killing them was way more frustrating than being lost. Its not super friendly to new players to pick up true. Thats one of the amazing things about hardcore, whether you are "pro" or a newb, at least you get a kill. Its also a mode you choose to play, so everyone can play their regular mode OR choose to play hardcore mode. Guarantee you, this would kill half of the servers for Call of Duty: Black Ops or MW2 over night, if they had skill, tactics, destructible building AND the ability for anyone to kill another player if they get the drop or shot off. Its not forced on anybody, its a simple choice of playing style.

There is a point where a games learning curve isn't just high, its broken. NOBODY jumps into any game just to die for the other players over and over and over. I did too persevere and made it lvl 43 before everything fizzled. My K: D ratio took a beating, I was barely 2:1, but I got there. Since the K: D ratio in BC2 doesn't mean much, its at least a testament to your own personal ability. Someone being a run and gunner / bomber probably wouldn't such a hot ratio, but thats how they like to play. Most of that is from being slaughtered at lvl 1 with no guns or ammo, your best bet is to get points on accident. That isn't a good game design feature fun.

@Duckie, I agree with you, but surely we can create smaller maps for TDM, even with 30v30 the majority of maps in Bad Company 2 were way to big for that so they could shrink the combat field of course. Or have hot zones where double or triple points are located at for each kill, or whatever, I could think of tons ideas to balance it out.

True about snipers on an entire team not helping out HOWEVER, its not just snipers, Medics & engineers often run around doing nothing. I personally am tied between assault & sniper, but I prefer to rush objectives and bring down the mortar strikes on buildings. I personally think thats fun myself. I also like sneaking behind enemy lines to take down entrenched LMGS & campers so that my team can breakthrough the lines. That isn't something you start off knowing, but has to be learned and practiced.

@Duckie if you want a steep learning curve try ArmA2. The game is extremely unforgiving but once you learn it is one of the most rewarding and satisfying games I have played online
Ok, so BC is not a sim so to speak. But you gotta admit....compared to CoD it might as well be. Doesn't take a much experience to rack up a bunch of kills in CoD. Just trigger a special vehicle or weapon and you could be at the top of the charts in no time! No 10 ft knife dash in BC either. I could be half asleep and do well in CoD. BC is a different story. If I'm not wide awake then I simply don't play. My K/D ratio will drop a bit.

If I want driving game I'll go play NFS. If I want to depend on my teammates and healers I'll play WoW. Also BFBC2 sucks because there's no strafing, which was a staple of gameplay, in all of the best PC games, like Doom, Quake, UT, CS there was always strafing.

The point is: first person shooter should be about, well, shooting, not waisting your time repairing some tank.
But wait a second, all you said was "CoD" - meaning Call of Duty, and "CoD" had tanks and jeeps and that game is what started the entire franchise.

Most of your concerns were about BC2. We're talking about BF3 here. As in, the sequel to BF2. As in, not a sequel to BC2.

see i cant take you seriously. Why because you claim in battlefield you need those unlocks to compete. No you dont. Guns are designed to have strengths and weaknesses, along with kit unlocks.

the 1st weapon for all classes is a perfect all around weapon. The AEK is quite possibly the best Assault rifle in the game.

Body armor and magnum ammo are merely killing in 1 bullet more or 1 bullet lest respectively. So why cant you land 1 more bullet than the enemy does? just aim better. So what if you dont have the an94 unlocked, its not better than other weapons, just different.

The fact that you think that you need those unlocks to compete just proves to me that you really dont know bc2 at all.

I run iron sights extra ammo, and either body armor or explosives depending on the class. I can use every weapon effectively and do fine with every gun in the game, thats because the gun unlocks dont replace other guns, they just provide new options.

People that are interested in what the source says about depth of character development should play some battlefieldplay4free.

It will show you what battlefield 3 is planning to, and i like it.

Every shooter I have played is better than "CoD". It's the brainwashed gamers who would still think it's the best FPS even if it didn't have any guns that make it sell so well.
