If I want driving game I'll go play NFS. If I want to depend on my teammates and healers I'll play WoW. Also BFBC2 sucks because there's no strafing, which was a staple of gameplay, in all of the best PC games, like Doom, Quake, UT, CS there was always strafing.

The point is: first person shooter should be about, well, shooting, not waisting your time repairing some tank.
I think you are trolling. They are two different types of games and truely (even though i have done it) shouldnt be compared

Really guy, calling out Battlefield players as nerds on an overclocking forum?

Also it sounds like you were a terrible Battlefield player, if you're driving around without anyone to shoot.
I No Rite.

I, for one, agree with the "tank hits player and player lives" portion, as well as being pretty buggy for a game, but I love BFBC2. I was a big BF2 player as well before that. I find the game extremely fun when you play with ~7 other people on your team in a voice chat server. Playing by yourself blows.

I really can't wait for BF3. I'm so hyped. I just hope it delivers. Usually really hyped games fail hard. Bring it on EA.

1942 was awesome!! I played the hell out of that game, if I could find my discs I would reinstall it for nostalgia.

No games should attempt to kill another game, this is the same as people wanting to kill WoW, what then ? WoW has its own community and it would be a bumer if that community spread to other games, its the same thing with CoD.
The Battlefield developers should just plan on creating a good Battlefield game, seems like this is what they are doing.

when they say kill, they mean make a bigger and better game that gets more popular.

Usually competition drives prices lower and products to be better. In the case of call of duty. The popularity has meant that they merely milk their product without any innovation or improvements. Just retextures and map packs.

If battlefield 3 were to topple COD, it would in turn make COD into possibly good games again, as they would have to actually try again.

Hey guys,

Let's keep this discussion civilized. No need to turn this into personal attacks on each other's tastes.

Thanks!

I agree, competition is great. But sometimes when people say kill they also mean replace, nothing can or should replace COD, its an established franchise with its own (horrible) community. But competition is good and I do hope that Battlefield 3 makes it and gives COD a run for its money.

So go play Quake, CS, and UT then? Running, move the crosshair on enemy, and fire. *yawn*

No bullet drop, no teamwork, no tactics, no diversity, no evolving map, little skill... It's all the same but with better graphics.
I just wanted to drop in to point out that all those games (twitch shooters) require a great amount of skill. CS emphasizes teamwork and clutch plays. Quake and UT emphasize map control by holding certain weapons and items--the entire round is an evolving map with the players wrestling for control. As opposed to little skill, the most talented FPS professionals all for the most part also play Quake so that statement seems a little unfounded.

Sadly enough, they're two different games, so it's not going to happen. CoD is much more about the twitch reflex and memorizing the maps so you can kill as many people as possible. BF is more about squad play and getting the objectives, so while you need to know that maps, it's not all twitch (though there is some). Lots of gamers don't want to have to think while they blow stuff up, so they're going to play the game that's going to appeal to their need. Unfortunately, BF doesn't seem to be that game. It's going to be nigh impossible to dethrone Call of Duty, sorry guys.

I still can't wait for BF3 though!

Twitch skills are definitely required... but BF requires more strategy and long-term planning.

As a commander, where do you direct your resources? Where do you tell squads to go and provide support?

As a squad leader, do you listen to commander to assist in defense or choose to advance? Do you spawn with everyone else in the front lines or do spawn back and defend against the guys who managed to sneak through?

There's a tank rolling in.... do you spawn in as an Engineer or continue to run with a Medic kit?
Once again...
