470 Black screen issues

Thread Starter
My Palit reference 470 was working fine for a while when I first got it but just recently, well the last few weeks I guess it will just black screen and crash my PC until I restart it. Sometimes this will happen multiple times then it will stop happening and be perfectly stable while gaming and everything.

I thought this was a problem with drivers as it only seems to happen once I've logged into Windows 7 so I uninstalled the drivers ran a driver sweep etc and reinstalled but it still happens. It's not every time I turn my pc on but if it happens once I'm in for a few restarts of the system before it works again.

Maybe it was underpowered? my VX550 might be struggling but I ran OCCT GPU test for about 10minutes and got no errors or black screens and the same with furmark. I can't see it being the psu otherwise it would have happened during the test am I right?

Any suggestions it's really frustrating me now

It might still be your PSU. Try putting some stress on both the CPU and the GPU. For example try folding on both.

Hi,
sadly this problem is well documented, i've suffered the dreaded black screen 100's of times since i first got my 470, sometimes it will be motre than a week before it shows its ugly face and other times it can be a few times a day daily, it's such a pain in the ass.
Seeing as i had been through 2 amd cards with the same setup and never once had a black screen i'm 100% sure its nvidia's fault, allso all the gtx 400 are suffering from this problem, from what i make out the people that do not have this problem are ok, but i'm pretty sure if they put there perfectly working card into a system that has this problem with the 400 series we would see black screens still.
apparently its related to.... well i'll let you see for yourself, none of the fixes worked for me!

Searched google for " gtx 470 black screen" there are many many more so take a look for yourself, i have included the first search that google gave.

i've also expereinced the same issue. One way to try and fix it is to up the volts. Even then it will flux and not get to what you set it as.
