Yeah man, it made STALKER for me.

Although there weren't any real textures to speak of in the video, I didn't see detail pop-in like I do in BC2. This could still exist, of course...

Also, the idea of real time dynamic weather is awesome. Even if the weather was relatively static during the match, there could be a random chance of the map being set in a certain weather condition or time of day when it is loaded to make each play more unique.

maybe the best idea ever. With an FPS it would really be a nice change.

I can just imagine a small column in the server browser next to the map with the weather condition, temperature and time of day =)

I could see it effecting some weapons, vehicle control or availability, reinforcement delays, etc. It is pretty fun to think of, and seems like it would introduce a nice variability to the game.

Who knows how well it would work for balanced gameplay.

Nah, i don't think comparing it to any other game would do it justice. The video was nothing more than a demo of their lighting API and mapping. It is essential to use clean sets to determine how well their engine is working which is why that probably reminded a lot of people here of mirror's edge.

The lighting will be combined with a number of other technologies like SSAO and depth of field. Not to mention tessellation that i'm sure DICE will incorporate to take advantage of the new Fermis.

Yes this would indeed be unique and with the dynamic lighting it would probably have the ability to make each map look different as well as each round played.
