Core 3 temp is higher. Normal? (i7 950)

Thread Starter
Hey guys. I just got my new rig working. I have a question on the i7 950 core temps showing up on evga e-leet. The processor itself idles at 26-28 degrees and loads at 31-35 degrees when i play games, but when i check out the individual core temps, core 3 is significantly higher. I wanted to ask you guys if this is ok before overclocking.

Here's a screenshot:

specs are:

i7 950 still stock, xspc rx360 cooled
evga x58 classified 3
6gb ddr3 2000 gskill trident
corsair hx850
evga gtx 570 superclocked in SLi

Try using a utility like CoreTemp which offers a more accurate temp reading. Also where do you figure it loads 31 - 35 if your lowest temp is showing 38? You can try re seating your cooler and checking to make sure that the thermal paste is spread properly, but its fairly normal for there to be a variance of a few degrees Celsius.

From what I have heard, Core Temp is great for dual core CPU's but not higher than that. OP, check out Real Temp or HWMonitor and check your CPU temps. You could also have a stuck thermal probe, it happens.

RealTemp and do the sensor test to verify all the sensors are actually working properly.

This is normal. Not all cores have the same TjMax value, and even then that value itself is not clearly defined. As a result the temp calibration varies from core to core.

That's like, five years ago.

It's perfectly normal for temp discrepancy.
