Online does not mean laws do not apply.
You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. When you "sign-up" there is probably a clause somewhere in the document you signed that gives the provider of said document full legal control of the "free" product they planned to give you. It also probably states that they have a right to de-activate said product with no prior notice.

I can guarantee there were terms applied to this deal with the same merit and it works the same way. They hold the right to cancel the offer at any time.

Quit trying to be an internet lawyer and go get some Boudreaux's Butt-Cream for that butt hurt.

So before you go OMG ITS MY KEY GIVE IT BACK. you stole my friend. No, you dont get it back. My key got taken away, don't care though, metro was bad anyways. But at least NV is pissing you off, +1 to NV
Wow, throwing down the "theft" gauntlet is a little extreme...

Overreact much?

pretty sure in there emails it says nothing about being able to de-activate the cd key. unless you can prove otherwise in some little clicky, your just talking out your ass.

Wow. This thread is the epitome of people acting like dick heads. Listen to how mean you all are being too each other. This is supposed to be a COMMUNITY. Instead its a bunch of wannabe know it alls trying to prove they know it all. And since they don't they ALL like tards.

Unless you have been to law school, please don't make legal arguments.
If you don't like OP's thread, DON'T read it, I know it s a hard concept. But let me help you. Instead of typing words and hitting reply button, just hit the back button on your browser. He is free to post a thread just like you. But you SHOULD be required to show a certain form of respect and professionalism instead of just posting verbal onslaughts.

EDIT:

You did NOT pay for the game, there was no monetary transfer, therefore you do not own the game or the CD-KEY they sent you. Easy as that.

Rage all you want, but Nvidia did nothing wrong.

Well, it was too good to be true xD
People shouldn't QQing about it, even if you got the game for free, it was just a mistake. All of you, being in their footsteps, would have done the same thing.
Besides, you can get Metro 2033 at very low prices nowadays, like on THQ site (10$)

This is the reply email I sent Nvidia (I'm not super serious, but I thought it'd be fun lol.) What do you guys think?
Their email:
Dear Customer,

Thank you for your recent visit to the NVIDIA Online Store.

We apologize for any inconvenience, however the free order you placed for Metro 2033 was based on an invalid promotion that was never intended to be
publicized. All orders placed under this promotion have been cancelled and activation keys have been deactivated.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Sincerely,
NVIDIA Online Store
Customer Service

My email:

Now what you've done here is thievery, and let me tell you why.

According to Merriam-Webster's Dictionary (A world renowned source for English definitions), customer is defined as, "One that purchases a commodity or service." In this case, you have referred to me as a customer, correct? Then how can you justify denying me, a customer, "One that purchases a commodity or service", my product, otherwise known as my commodity? You may try to argue that it's free, and that I did not really indeed purchase it, but that's irrelevant and untrue, a transaction still took place, and I recieved an invoice. As far as these definitons are concerned, I am a customer, as you yourself have stated, and I had purchased your product... With me being one of your, customers, I must demand that you (as this truly is your fault) reimburse me with another product key. Because quite frankly, your apology for this thievery is completely and totally blasphemous.

That is all,
A Disgruntled Customer

Really Metro isnt even that good af a game. Its the principle of the thing. the way it was handled by nvidia was horrible. giving people the game, letting them install it, letting them play, de-acitvating the game without any warning, then 3 days later explaining it. for a company this big to not notice and respond to it for as long as they did is horrible.
