Biostar or Asus motherboard?

Thread Starter
I figured I'd get some input before I make my order. I am wondering what the difference between these two boards are when it comes to overclocking. THe Asus Crosshair Extreme and the Biostar 890FXE. I plan on having an X6 soon but right now I'm still running the X3. I know it looks like an obvious choice if I don't mind spending the money but I want to make sure it's worth spending if I'll get the same results. I plan on running it on air with what I have now. I know the RAM is much higher on the Asus, would that be enough to make it the best choice. Also I only plan on having it for maybe 2-3 years depending on what's on the market and a possible switch to Intel at that time. I'll leave it at that huge wall of text and say I appreciate the feedback.

I'd go with Asus, I've had good luck with their boards, good quality parts, and have always overclocked really well.

Biostar has some good stuff but I personally only use them for non-overclocked systems where budget is a concern. Asus is the industry leader for motherboards and has a good reputation for building solid overclockable motherboards.

Since you are essentially comparing a $100 mobo to a $300 mobo I'm guessing you really want to know if Asus is worth the extra money. Simple answer - Yes.

ASUS. The bios is a bit confusing on the biostar. I have the a880g+ biostar board and it works great at unlocking my sempron and stuff, but the bios is a bit confusing and features are not all together like they should be. My ASUS in my sig though, is a great board and overclocks extremely well and is easy to do so. Biostar will still work for you, just might be a bit more difficult.

All good points but I feel the same could be said about Biostar. And I believe this Biostar holds the world record overclock. I know they're not doing it on air but I would think it should be a fairly well overclocker itself.

Edit: wrote before the above 3 posts, even better points.
