Well, you had to choose your major skills, or a class with predefined major skills. Those would start out higher (30 to 40 or so) and you would get level points if you leveled them.
So yeah, if you later found out you were barely using 3 or 4 of those you'd slap yourself in the face.

So I think it's a good move, if well executed.

I will not be buying Skyrim unless I can fly in it.

Removing the ability to climb walls and fly was one of the worst things that happened to the series.

Every new release has fewer interesting features and less flexibility than the last.

In Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion I always picked whatever would give me the the most magicka points and then trained myself in weapons and armor (well not armor in Daggerfall).

Yeah, I would always use a custom class anyway. Usually picking the skill/race combo so that I would could get the highest possible character level. I wasn't concerned with leveling fast because I intended to max out every skill anyway. I always liked being a stealthy, healing, sword-fighting archer, so I think it's great that they're taking out the "class" structure.
