Safest 6850 OC + Volt tweak?

Thread Starter
I just recently built a gaming PC and I have the 6850 running at 820/1050 (stock for the Gigabyte version I have). It tops out at 62C very seldomly while playing Crysis at High, 1920x1080, 8xAA, 16xAF and around 54C on Black Ops on 1080p max'd out.

I used MSI Afterburner and set it to 875/1200 but after a little bit the game would freeze up so I just set it back to 820/1050. No artifacts or anything, the game just stop working. Plus, I could only get the 32bit version of Crysis to work. Is 64bit much better given that my OS is W7 ultimate 64b?

This is what I've got:
-AMD Phenom II x4 B55 @ 3.2ghz
-Gigabyte 6850 820/1050 stock volts
-G.Skill Ripjaws @ 1333
-650w Hec-x PSU

Airflow is good. The CPU hits 45-48C on full load with the stock cooler, although I will purchase 3 ultra 120mm case fans and a 212+ for the CPU on Valentine's.

On another note, I heard some talk of flashing the 6850 to the 6870 but I also read it wasn't possible on a couple websites. What's the deal?

Help is much appreciated! Thanks

On stock volts 950/1150 is normal..Any higher then that requires a voltage change. The 6850 can not be flashed to a 6870..That's the 69XX series cards
