Have you tried disabling hardware acceleration?

with opera you gotta go into the options and spend a little time personalizing it to appreciate it.
to fully appreciate the Restore feature you gotto do some tweaking.

1. Menu > Settings > Preferences > Advanced >Tabs > Additional Tab Options > New Tabs > Remember Last Size.
That way when u middle click links to open tabs in the background they're not maximized.

ii. uncheck Reuse Current Tab:
u select a word to right-click and search for it, or a web address to Go To Web Address they open up in new windows. instead of having to press and hold shift + click the mouse.

2. Menu > Settings > Preferences > Advanced > Shortcuts > enable single-key shortcuts
just in case you want to quickly maximize-restore tabs: 5 key

mouse gestures work really well too. (but disable visual hints).

opera still has to improve on stability. firefox is more stable and works flawlessly with most sites.

Second source quoting an acceleration in FF version numbering (which makes sense... FF calls it another beta release, Chrome calls it another version - Chrome wins)
i've used firefox 4 beta for forever maybe even since summer last year its still not out yet. im just going on their own track record.

when reinstalling browsers for customers i use chrome coz i dont have to deal with them telling me flash doesnt work.
for laptops i now recommend chrome. for my desktop (24" lcds) opera.

Everything in development before the original is released nowadays... The fact that this surprises you is quite pitiful, and kinda embarrassing on your part.
