I just looked at your motherboard on newegg and I'm assuming that your cards are plugged into the 1st and 3rd PCI-E slots? That top card might not be getting enough air. I had a 460ftw edition shoot right up to 95 and shut down in three minutes when I had a card right under it. When I ran it in a single card setup, it ran around 88C. Is there anyway you can wedge something inbetween the cards and give it some room or have a fan setup to give it some air?

They are in the first and second slots, the 3rd only leaves room for on slot and these are double slot cards. The cards are literately right on top of each other. The only thing I could fit in between them is a piece of paper.

This is your problem; open rigs don't have a wind tunnel effect, so hot air sits around components. This is not good

First and second slot? O.o
Is this the board you have? Yeah, if you can only fit a piece of paper between them, then it can't breathe. >.>

First off the max safe temp for the 460 is 104 or 105C if memory serves. So you are close to the limit but not at it. And having the top card be hot is normal for SLI or CFX because of the reduced airflow.

When im folding my 460 hovers around 72C with the fan at 65%.
Your case is either a hot box and needs more fans or the coolers on your cards are junk because my 460 is running faster than your cards and its still cooler. Ive run SLI 460s at this speed and My temps were never that high.
