I don't know about goodram, but you defintiely shouldn't be getting generic 1333 CL9 RAM. Don't expect it to overclock well - in fact expect it to hold back other overclocks such as CPU - regardless of brand.

I still have a 512Mb Goodram in my kitchen rig, still going strong after ~7years laughingsmiley.gif

If it's not DDR3, this does not apply at all. The DDR3 IC on that RAM would probably behave differently and have a different lifespan than whatever 512MB DIMM you have (DDR or DDR2). You shouldn't really ever judge memory by brand (unless taking support & warranty into account) or past experiences, always judge by the ICs on it if you know it. i.e. OCZ was a great choice for buying DDR2, when they started selling DDR3 quality took a huge downfall and eventually OCZ quit RAM altogether.

Alright, I think I found a way to get Ripjaws X.
Which set is better? 2x4GB 1600MHz CL9 or 2x4GB 1333MHz CL7?

Id say go for the CL7 1333. Really not much of a difference between the two of them, but it might be better to have the lower timings rather than the faster speed. Also, the CL9 1600 is said to be 'designed around P57' and ripjaws designed for intel chipsets have always had a problem getting the right timings with amd chipsets. This isn't as nearly as common as it used to be, but I'd still say you should stay away from them.

They're pretty equal, usually 1600 CL9 slightly beats 1333 CL7 in some benchmarks. In things like gaming, etc. they will prefer the lower timings. Note that most of the time 1600Mhz kits overclock better than 1333Mhz kits regardless of latency; I have seen this in reviews comparing the (original) Ripjaws 2x2 1600 CL9 vs 2x2 1333 CL7. The 1600 CL9 kit overclocked somewhat better.

You mean Intel RAM? If so, this is a blatant lie; RAM is RAM. This is marketing hype to try to get the fewer AMD users to buy RAM that is 2x more expensive, or is related to the Intel IMC 1.65V limit which does not matter at all on AMD. Unless you're on a QVL-picky CH. IV Formula or PSC-hating TA890FXE, pretty much any Intel designed RAM can work on AMD at rated frequencies and timings. In fact due to better tolerance to high DRAM voltages you have a lot more options with AMD memory controllers.

Alright, so my best bet is to go for the 1600 CL9?
Also, what difference would getting 4x 2GB sticks instead of 2x 4GB be? I know it'd strain the IMC more but would that limit my planned 4GHz OC?

I wasn't saying that the RAM wouldn't work with AMD, however the ripjaws, especially the original wouldn't run @ advertised timings and clock out of the box. It took some tweaking in the bios to do so.
