Asus Xonar Xense or HT Omega eClaro?

Thread Starter
Okay since my onboard sound is bad at driving my speakers due to sounding soft, but it seems to drive my Beyerdynamic DT 770 headphones. I'm looking for a PCIe sound card that can drive my headphones and Klipsch Promedia Ultimate 5.1 speakers.

I've narrowed down the choices to either the Asus Xonar Xense or HT Omega eClaro. Heard good things on both, but the eClaro doesn't have EMI shielding. The Xonar Xense is expensive, but it comes with a great headset to replace my old headphones. I'm going to be gaming mostly and watching anime shows. One website sells the Xonar Xense for $260, but it says it is a Xonar Essence STX with a headset. Is the Xense really the Essence STX or something different?

The reason I didn't choose Creative's Sound Blaster Titanium HD is that it doesn't support 5.1 over analog, just 2.1.

I was thinking bout getting the Xonar Xense but it would be a waste for me cause i wouldnt use the headphones. Now im looking at the Auzentech X-Meridian 7.1 2G.

Does anyone if they both support the same EAX emulation or is one better than the other?
Too bad the Titanium HD doesent support 5.1.

Hmm, the Auzentech X-Meridian looks good on specs, but I can't use it since my mobo doesn't have any PCI slots. Many people seem to like the Xense and the headphones are pretty good.

No one has any opinions on the eClaro?

I can't comment on the "Xense?" or the DX but I can say I thoroughly do love my Essence ST. So my vote is for the Xonar.

The Xonar Xense is expensive, but it comes with a great headset to replace my old headphones. I'm going to be gaming mostly and watching anime shows. The reason I didn't choose Creative's Sound Blaster Titanium HD is that it doesn't support 5.1 over analog, just 2.1.

What did you buy finally?

hahhehehe... biggrin.gif

Something better for my Swans M50w over the DX i currently have. DX sound way better than onboard but I feel it sounds a bit hollow and can be improved. (with a better card)
