1366 Build or Wait?

Thread Starter
So just when i was gonna order parts for a sandy bridge rig consisting of a 2600k, they have a recall. Do you guys think it is still worth it to build a 1366 rig with an i7 950? I desperately need a computer to work with until ivy bridge!

This is what i have to work with so far:

CASE: Cooler Master Haf X
PSU: Corsair 750w Modular
SOUNDCARD: Asus Xonar D1

Considering the following for the 1366 build:

CPU: I7 950
GPU: MSI Twin Frozr II Gtx 560
MOBO: Asus Rampage III Formula
RAM: Corsair Dominator 6gb
CPU COOLER: Thermalright Silver Arrow

Now it may seem that i don't have any activities on this forum, but i can assure you that I'm on here almost everyday to read through threads and posts.

Any inputs/thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!!! Thanx ahead of time

a 1366 build will last till IVY Easy,

On a side note....If you want to save some money get a cheaper mobo, Unless you are going to be overclocking to well above 4.4ghz no need in a really expensive mobo....Even a x58a-ud3r can take any i7 to 4.0ghz.

Cooler is the best you can get, Bit i prefer the Frio a few c warmers but looks SEXY

YES SandyBridge is faster clock for clock (Slightly) and can overclcok a bit higher, But either will smash any games out till ivy...

Actually i should elaborate............I have no current rig whatsoever lol and i should take out the "wait" because of my situation! If anything should I just build the 1366 now and then wait till the end of this year for ivy bridge, then get a new mobo and cpu, and then transfer whatever i have to the ivybridge build?

To 4BRAND, i will be using my rig for amateur-ish video and audio editing (nothing too serious, just for my hobbies), as well as some light gaming

Thanx once again!!!

If you want to wait then thats your choice but keep in mind that come Ivy intel will have announced a new architecture to come within the next year and people will carry on saying wait...

imo just get whats great at the time and be happy

I see what you are trying to say!! I'm not going to seriously overclock my cpu to 4ghz, maybe just 3.5 at most. Also i do like the aesthetic of the asus board more , but i will look into a cheaper motherboard. Thanx for the input

You make a valid point! I guess a 1366 build should make me happy for now (knowing that i dont have anything to work with anymore.)

Thank you
