Need to Restore Asus eee Pc

Thread Starter
i have an asus eee pc that i got from a friend. it had thinkpoint virus which i ended up removing. I then realized wifi did not work, so i went to asustek website and downloaded the driver update. i then realized that it needed vga driver too so i downloaded and installed. after installation, it said it needed to reboot and so i said ok and now it won't do anything but go to blank black screen after it says ACER. really want to know what i can do to fix. it did not come with recovery dvd and recovery partition is not working. please help. a link to recovery disk would be really helpful. thanks

Why not just download a legit Windows XP/Windows 7 ISO, burn it to a USB key and boot/install Windows off of it?

Well, if you have a USB key ~8GB's then you could do it that way. But DVD way always works too

just another question....the netbook was running windows xp sp3 i believe...i have a reinstall cd that came with my dell desktop that is also windows xp sp3....could i pop this into an external dvd drive and it be able to restore the netbook?

It might be possible. Yes.
Shouldn't have a problem, but you probably will end up installing the Dell crapware that comes on the disk.
