cuad, did you test both without any features and did you on the X-fi change it to Audio Creation Mode?

Also, did you use the ASIO output through Foobar? No distortion at any volume FTW.

Yes and yes. I even checked that little bit-matched playback box. And I got myself reclock to use with KMPlayer before I switched to Foobar cause I hate exclusive mode and KMPlayer wouldn't play 24-bit files. They said that using WASAPI would make it so that I wouldn't be able to change the volume, but even when I had reclock installed I could still adjust it. So maybe I didn't have it installed right or maybe I just heard wrong.

I heard about that and I've been meaning to try it out, but I've been putting it off since I was disappointed with reclock and KMPlayer.
