XFX 5770 Non-Ref Locked Voltage - Page 2

Thread Starter
I checked my voltages again [GPUz and RBE] and the 970/1300 clocks I am getting are at 1.1V and not 1.125V

My PC idles on dekstop with 275/1300 @ 0.95V with 125W and peaks with Furmark at 234W. So the GPU is, as advertised, has a TDP of 109W.

I haven't played with the voltage controller, but Im sure there is a data sheet for it...
Is it a linear reg or a dc to dc converter?

For adjustable voltages I assume the bios mods the voltages by modifying the duty cycle.. Maybe check if in the bios theres a way to control that duty cycle and re flash the bios?

Based on the type of Reg it is you should be able to use the voltage ratio equations to find out the duty cycle.

Here is the public data sheet for it: http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/316991/ANPEC/APW7088.html

The sheet does not include the programming information (Register tables) but I guess you do not need this if you are going to take the duty cycle way.

Could you please take a look at the datasheet and let me know what can be done?

Thanks,
ULTRA

From a quick look at the data sheet if you look on pg 15 it has a truth table for the DAC input. Based on that input, you should see an output.

If you can find the register in bios that controls that value you can output, and change the voltages based on your need.

Sorry, I'll take a better look when i get home, I'm in my comp architecture class's frown.gif single cycle ALU day.

It's also a buck converter. So your duty cycle is

D = Vo/Vin

Alright. Take a look at it once you are home. I am not sure the BIOS can talk to the registers without the register tables. That is what the creator of RBE told me.

As for single cycle ALU, I went through that last semester in my Digital Logic Design II course. Piece of cake! smile.gif

Have you tried a simple volt mod?? Take a look at this thread

http://www.overclock.net/graphics-cards-volt-mods/789291-xfx-5770-voltmod.html

Here are some measuring points if it's come in handy

This is Powercolor 5770 reference design volt mod hope it helps.

Thanks for the pics, but I am not interested in overvolting since 970/1300 at 1.1V is quite remarkable.

I want to undervolt with 2D clocks to bring my temps down even further.

I tried Trixx (latest version/beta) and it did not work.

Simply put, there is no software on the market as of now that can "talk" with the APW7088 voltage regulator.

To start off with I have a wink.gifXFX HD-577X-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770cool.gif And I have been able to not only Overclock past 960 but also have voltage control... I was sent an email on how I was able to accomplish this feat.. I made 2 simple youtube videos to show how it was done.... also took a few photos today to share maybe use as a reference or something of the sort...
