First Time Liquid cooling.

Thread Starter
Alright, so I've been working this through my mind for a while now. I've asked a few liquid cooling questions here over the last week or so.
So far I've got it down to this.
-Modifying an Antec300
-Adding in a preplanned loop from XSPC: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/11...ater_Cooling_K
it_Hot_Item.html?tl=g30c321s1310#blank

So, the modified idea is on the right. Pardon my ****ty drawing.
-Remove 3.5 inch bays
-put in dual 120mm radiator
-4x 120mm fans for push/pull
-Dual bay res in 5.25 bay(using 2/3 bays)
-Cpu Block

I have a microatx motherboard and the hard drive's are planned. Not the same as in the picture however.

Criticism is welcome, actually preferred.
Thanks in advance.

looks good except for a few little things. Flip the top fan over to make it intake so that you will actually have air to push out of ur case. With the current config it looks like there is no way for air to get inside. The 240 rad up front is a great idea, but I would also put a thin 120 rad to the left of the cpu where the exhaust hole is. Alternatively you could put the fans attached to the radiator(s) as intake and leave your top fan as exhaust.

Thanks Italian Stallion.

Now, if I where to run the radiator fans as intake, would it affect my GPU/Hard Drive tempatures at all?

Damn nice i was just thinking that same setup for my antec 300. I just nee a place to fit my extra hard drives.
and this is the pump reservoir that I want to use
http://www.jpcomputersolutions.com.a...0-s-pumps.html
By the way I would keep the front radiator fans as an exhaust and use the side fan as an intake along with the 140 mm fan on top to bring in some cool fresh air. Maybe even the rear fan can be used as intake as well since the radiator fans will be pushing out all of the air with the push pull confg.

Haze80, great minds think alike eh?
I cannot afford that pump/reservoir. I wish lol.

But, I'm still wondering what happens if I set the radiator as intake to the case. How much will it affect my GPU/Hard drive tempatures.

the air that passes through the rad is only around 3c hotter than when it entered so temps of the rest of your rig will be 3c hotter, just as if your ambient was slightly hotter. The advantage of this setup is that the rads will be getting the coldest air possible which decreases ur cpu temps by a good amount, especially under load

I just bought this and I've got the same CPU. It's been pretty good so far. Only had it for 2 days though. I made some threads about it here and here.

Thank you very much, now I just need to order the kits. I've received all the feedback I need from multiple websites.
Should I post a build log seeing as it's a new case+case mod, with liquid cooling?

No, just no.

Always have top fans as exhaust as heat rises.

although i see your point - he really isn't getting any air inside the case.

If anything, that front fan should be intake, if not, perhaps installing some bottom fans as intake (This would be ideal as cooler air is lower to the ground)

My CM690 has two top fans for exhaust, one large fan on the front as intake and two lower 120mm fans on the bottom as intake. Ideal setup, imo.

I know enough about thermodynamics to avoid anything close to a intake on top. But thank you for the idea reinforcement and advice.
