my PG&E bill.. after 1 month of folding - Page 3

No possible way that is all from folding. If you fold 24/7 and use a full 1000W, your bill would be:

24 hours a day, 31 days = 744 hours a month
744 hours x 1KW = 744KWh
$0.15/KWh * 744KWh = $111 to run this computer constantly at 1000W

Something isn't right here.

Electricity Generation is only part of the charge. Dont forget about the rest of the charges and taxes that add up to the other half of the bill-

-Transmission
-Distribution
-Public Purpose Programs
-Nuclear Decommissioning
-Competition Transition Charge
-Reliability Services
=Total Electric Costs

The ps3 is an inefficient folding power hog. It can suck up as much as an i7 and gtx460 combined.

OP I think is in Cali. But that bill does not look right. We had the snow and ice storm day of Christmas as well as 2 weeks later and our bill stayed the same. Neighbors went up, I will say I fired the fireplace(logs) up when it gets cold but I just love the smell and heat from that. Some say their bills went up as much as $250 from the past bill.

I am betting its an Estimate. Since January and Feb are both the coldest months of the year (if you are in the U.S.), they may have estimated your usage. Get an actually reading and hopefully that number will go down.

PGE also charges you by the tier, like tier 1 is $.11 /kw up to x amount of kw, then is is $.15 up to x then $.20 so on and so forth.

Same thing applies for SCE (Socal Edison).

Our office lease is up in Dec. My boss is looking for a new place that is full service, aka power is free. Our first place had that, the current place doesn't. I can't wait to move my rigs back to the office.

.
In addition to all the charges you mentioned, we get hit with a "Debt Reduction Charge".
Basically its a charge that the Hydro company adds to make up for loses they had when they mismanaged their finances.

there's a baseline usage, 352 kwh @ $.12, then there's a charge if you go over that, i'm now in the 201-300% of Baseline range, which bumps the cost up to $.39
Umm, Going off the earlier post of 744kwh/month, your $200 makes sense with this tier system.
352 kWh * .12c/kWh = $42.24
392 kWh * .39c/kWh = $152.88
Total bill (not including extras) = $195.12

Can you go to time of use (TOU) metering and only fold during the evening/night?

I've seen PV (photovoltaic systems) in PG&E use their battery back up (and solar) to put as much on the grid during the day (getting 25c/kWh) and then charging the batteries at night for 2c/kWh--hardon the batteries, but they can make some money in the short run.
