First Android phone that I know of that you can get without signing up for a monthly contract.

$50/mo for unlimited text/phone/data and having android 2.2 Froyo?

The specs look pretty decent. 3.2" screen, pretty small, but workable,

I see this as an entry-level Android phone for ALOT of people who haven't been able to afford getting a smartphone.

Well, to be quite honest, if you wanted dev support, you'd get a good phone with a good carrier. The people that want/need budget service like this month to month aren't your typical geek types, they're most likely just entry-level users.

Optimus is a pretty good deal for a mid level smart phone. I almost bought one but I just wanted a slide out keyboard. $50 beats VM's $60 unlimited but I doubt metroPCS coverage is better than VM's.
