Fan speed is limited in bios to only 85%. You would have to flash the card to change the limit to 100%.

However, these cards run very cool. A lot cooler than their predecessors.

Someone keeps telling me to leave the fan at auto, but if I do, Crysis ramps up to 85c with only 55% of the fan going. This is better, is it not?

Just do what you what ever makes you feel more comfortable. I personally don't like auto settings or fan profiles. I set the fan to what I can tolerate audibly for the task at hand.

I say go with what keeps the card cooler.

It's better to keep the card as cool as possible without making your ears bleed like the new 6000 series AMD cards do.

For some reason AMD was always regarded as the quiet ones. So when I built my first ever rig I used a 6870. That was the worst mistake I made with this rig other than buying a CoolerMaster R4 fan.

That video card would make a high pitched whine at any speed above 50%.

The 570 is 100x better in all regards.

As for temps try to set your fan profile for 1*C per 1% fan speed. Do so by moving one of the white dots in your custom fan profile under afterburner to be at say 85C = 85% and make sure that the line is nice and gradual. Not stepped.

Doing so with an overclock to 850mhz I never see above 65% fans @ 65C.

Right, yeah, I want to keep it cool. AND I know exactly how you feel blackbalt with the AMD 6000 series. I recently had a 6970, and the fan was not even tolerable. I went throuh 3 cards because I kept thinking it was too much, I couldn't stand it. The max fan on here sounds like the 60% fan on the 6970, if you set the 6970 to 100% fan I'm sure it would take off through the roof.

Yeah, the GTX 570 is pretty quiet. I just leave my fan on auto, I don't mind 85'C peak temps. I also have the backplate and highflow bracket.

The old Ati 5XXX cards were quiet though too.

Hehe nice weather here!

They highflow brackets just help to exaust air more fluidly out the back of your card.

You can only buy them directly from EVGA themselves. $10 for the bracket and like $7 shipping, takes about a week to get it to you through USPS.
