Graphically, how demanding will the upcoming games of 2011 be?

Okay, before I start. I want this to be a friendly thread, because I have a few questions, and you guys can discuss and what not. Don't start arguments and stuff, let it be clean

I've seen tons of posts that contain people worrying about their graphics cards and if they're good for the upcoming games. I've always said to myself "I'm sure it'll be fine"... But now that I actually think about it, are games getting much more graphically demanding?

Now I know personally, with my current x3... I'd be screwed. However, I'm upgrading my rig in May, this is what it will be.

i7-2600k
Asus P8P67 Pro
G.SKILL PI Series 6GB DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Asus Radeon 5850 (Still same GPU)

I think with that build (single GPU) I'd be able to destroy just about every upcoming game at my resolution maxed out (1680x1050), what do you guys think about the upcoming games, graphic demands wise?
probably be fine for 1050p

if worst comes worst, you buy another 5850

I think you will be okay, 5850's oc like champs. What I'm worried about is how the 5XXX series handles tessellation... not so well. Looking at UNIQUE benches there's hope in xfire though

That's what I'm saying, it's worrying me a bit. I mean, if I had the money to crossfire 5850s, I'd jump on it in a HEARTBEAT... But I don't. I'm lucky if I can get that upgrade done on time

As gaming matures. So will technology, as the games get more and more aesthetics, they won't be as demanding as they're supposed to be.

I recently seen a XFX 5850 on tigerdirect or NCIX for $170, the Sapphire vapor-x was on for $150, I almost grabbed one to xfire with this card. I'm hoping they hit rock bottom so I can snatch one.

you can turn off tesselation in most games.

Not like it does a whole lot anyways

your 5850 would be fine for that resolution. However you may have to lower the shader and tesselation level in some ( only a few) of the games.
I dont think the developers are going to implement heavy tesselation this soon yet.
Your cpu upgrade is going to be a great move, best of luck.

Yeah, I figured as much. It was just worrying me, because the graphics in upcoming games do look very impressive.

And thank you, I can't wait! It's definitely going to be a whole new meaning to PC gaming for me.

More of a CPU upgrade with all of these terrible 360 ports coming out.
4-year build.
