desperate for help from anyone and everyone atm

Thread Starter
So this is my first build and have had weeks to make sure i do everything right along with watching videos while doing it so I dont skip steps...so anyway I got everything installed on the mobo and whatnot and go to power it up and get nothing...I have the green LED light showing the standby pwr so I know pwr is getting to the mobo but absolutely nothing works atm when I try to power up the machine...I see a quick quick red flash where the CPU led is and I have tried resetting the cpu numerous times already as well as the memory...if there is any advice it would be much appreciated. Thank you in advanced.

Ram seated all the way. Cpu 4 pin power plug in? Ram in the correct slots? No extra stand-offs in the wrong spot? Gpu seated firmly with the power plugs? Just running stuff by you quickly.

yes at the moment ram is seated cpu 4pin power plug is in and seated. Ram is in correct slots. GPU seated firmly with power plus seated. And case came with 9 stand offs installed. 3 inboard mid and outboard.

Sounds like a short. I would recommend going over the standoffs one by one.

what about the cpu cooler is it extremely tight? I seen this cause issues before. Try taking out one stick of the ram and see if that allows it to restart properly. Have you moved the cmos jumper to rest, taken the battery out, unplugged the power cord and held in the power button for 3 seconds?

If all that fails remove the board out the case and try it on the motherboard box. I know it is a pain but that will tell you if it is a short.

I had a similar issue when I re-assembled my rig last week and noticed that my 8 pin (4 pin in your case?) motherboard connector wasnt properly seated.

yea I took everything out of the case lastnight and it fired right up, so I removed 3 of the stand-offs and it seems that is what caused the short. its working fine now, im at work and wanting to go home and load everything up. Crazy how something so small could cause such a problem I appreciate all the help and advice.
