Intel vs AMD Picture lookalike? - Page 2

If memory serves AMD bought ATI during that graphs duration.
And buying ATI turned out to be a risky but brilliant move.
Not to mention AMD processor quality never wavered during the loss of capital over those 2 years. so I fail to see how its really relevant.
Case and point their revenue actually went up a little over 2007 and 2008 even when they took losses.

A chart about revenue is only valid to point out that AMD took a risk, lost money, and started regaining it back (along with gaining majority market share of GPUs).

Im still expecting BD to be incredible. If AMD can just match Sandybridge performance its a whole new ballgame. Intel will no longer be the "Best" for performance and AMD will become a truly viable choice for heavy computing and not just Price/Performance.
Keep in mind though, occupying the Price Performance zone in any market is a VERY smart business move.

the thing is, what alot of people are misunderstanding, if AMD will get on par with intel it isnt like the prices are going to stay like they are now. its obvious then two things can happen: either intel drops their prices to match amd's, or amd will raise their prices so they match intel.

at the moment with amd being the underdog in pure performance they have very good prices, and therefor a good price/performance ratio. it is just in my opinion way to naive to believe that if amd will get better performance processors(or equal) than intel that the prices are going to stay the way they are. we all remember the 1k$ amd processors. now we have 1k$ intel processors, maybe we have 1k$ amd processors again in 1 year, who knows.

Whenever I think Intel, I get pictures like this in my mind... must be that god awful Intel tune they play in adverts.

Where as AMD's more...

...doesn't get as much work done, but you have more fun getting there.

Because being slower is always exciting. After a while of being at the top you start getting bored because you have no real competition, except for other chips from Intel.

So you are saying the Intel is very efficient and fast enough, and the AMD is slow and horribly inefficient.

I want to know how they came up with the name "Bulldozer", what if it doesn't roll over the competition as they expect?

You can't deny that what I posted is true. Look at CPU history over the last few years. As another poster pointed out the CPU supremacy is owned by Intel.

And as we all know, history repeats itself.
