Thanks for any help you have to offer, Cap'n.

Before I haphazardly jumped into this Folding exercise, I could go all day long at over 4 GHz with this i7-920. It passed the IntelBurnTest with flying colors, although it did not play well with Prime95 for any length of time.

Looks like I'm a total FAILure @ overclocking.

Here's my log file:

The program will continue in non-service mode now, working in C:\\Users\\Bamm\\FAH.
The next time the computer is starts up, you should see work automatically
continue there. Note that when this service is running, you should not try
to manually run F@H from that directory at the same time.

There are no error messages, what exactly is the problem?

Also, you didn't answer as to what process was taking 100% CPU time?

Folding is super tough on overclocks, you may do 150 passes of the Burn test, 24 hours of Prime95 or the OCCT one but folding will take your OC and put it under the most extreme pressure. Theres Stable and theres Folding Stable. If your not folding stable, you will see more and more of the lovely blue screens.

Best course of action is to drop to stock clocks then run a couple of WU's. Remove any -bigadv tags you have and just fold SMP units. If your CPU can hold fast at stock then we can do from there.

I can only surmise that it has something to do with Folding, mate. How can I determine what's taken over my CPU? Even with "GPU - F@H" paused, my usage remains at 100%!

Here's what my Task Manager looks like:

***STOP THE PRESSES***

The above screenie is deceiving, because, after clicking "Show processes from all users" I can finally see the "FahCore_a3.exe *32" that was inflating my usage to the max. When I kill it, my usage drops down to normal levels (except for Core #3, @ 50%), but within twenty seconds or so, the "FahCore_a3.exe *32" process reappears, and usage spikes back up to 100%!

Just... wow. I cannot catch a break to save my sorry soul.

fahcore_11 is for GPU's, and that isn't getting any CPU time anyway

Aha, I see, fahcore_a3 is the SMP client. That should be at 100%, folding, when you want it to, of course

Can you check the "services" tab, see if "folding @home" is listed there?

"Folding@home-CPU-[1]" is indeed listed.

So... does this mean I'm still working toward curing the scourge of cancer and other malevolent diseases, even though I'm all the while sittin' here, crying about my unstable overclock?

Thanks for that, Cap'n. Insofar as overclocking goes, I absolutely suck. Shame, too, because I really thought I "had it goin' on" with my SuperFly 4.08 GHz O/C. Everything loaded and ran faster, I had my chest all puffed-out, and thought I was on top o' the world.

Unfortunately, I tried to Fold, and had to "fold".

In other words, I'm back to the drawing board as far as overclocking goes.

I ain't givin' up without a fight, though.
