Vizio floor model warranty

I bought a display model VL470M from Sam's a few months ago, and the backlight just went out. There's a flickering dark stripe down the middle third of the screen. Does the one year warranty still apply?

It should still. They would most likely look at the invoice to see the date of purchase. I dont think there is even a way to tell if it is a floor model or not.

I don't see why it wouldn't.



I know Asus offers warranties on open box items, and I've registered items on EVGA that were OB, and got the full lifetime warranty.

Hmmm... I'll have to dig out the receipt and see what it says. They might realize something's up when they see that I only paid $380 for it.

Warranty is a warranty. It should still stand be it new or display model. Don't let them BS you.

Please provide a UPDATE to this thread on how VIZO took care - Or didn't take care of you. Don't be like MOST here on this board that create a thread- and NEVER post back!
PS: Please post in "detail" about the process.

Floor models and warranty
1: Be very "careful" what you say to xyz mfg... Several years ago the major players had wording in most warranties that state that the warranty does NOT cover display/floor models (Which I think is chicken-el-crap-ola since that display helped sell product )

2: Good luck with VIZO...I contacted VIZO with a very simple request for a list of "approved" VIZO service centers in my area (Major city) and got the run around...

(As I'm in the market again)


Currently I'm debating on a Hitachi floor model

Here is some wording on the Hitachi Warranty that has me concerned- You might want to check the VIZO warranty carefully before you contact them:

(Warranty is null)

P. Any Product that has been used for commercial purposes.

While Section P should be for units SOLD, then used for commercial purposes it could also mean used as a floor model. Sams' used them for commercial purposes... eh?



EDIT: Just as a idea- E-mail VIZO acting like you are a potential customer- and request in WRITING their position on floor models... ask them for example if you buy a DOA floor model if you have a warranty...
