Take a look at the Cinebench results.

You can see that the 2600k at only 4.3ghz, can easily match the 3.3ghz 6 core 980x.

Cinebench is one of the few tests I take seriously, because it is a rendering app that actually makes use of all cores available, and scales well with HT.

It should be noted, that 4.3ghz is nothing for the 2600k, while for the 980x, it is actually close to max OC.

Consider the fact that SB can do 5ghz on air, and it should easily match an overclocked 980x.

That's why I say AMD will have trouble competing with SB.
What you conveniently left out is that the 4.3Ghz 2600k has a 1Ghz advantage over the 980x yet it's still beaten. Bring the 980x upto about 4.2-4.4Ghz, and the 2600k to 5Ghz, the 980x will pull ahead as the clock speed gap gets less and less.

And 5Ghz isn't really an average max clock for SB... I've seen people struggling to get past 4.6 without excessive volts.

(i.e. 20fps, then going down to 15 when the game nears completion.)

Apart from the motherboard (Went from P43 to 790GX) and the CPU (Core 2 Duo E8300 to Phenom II x3 720 to x2 550), there were no differences.
I was using a HD4890 as my GPU at the time and I had 8GB G.Skill DDR2.
An E8300 has superior single threaded performance to a Phenom II 550 clock for clock, so there must have been other variables.

But i'll go with your story instead of the heaps of proof out there.

First they didn't listen to the fans of Diablo 1 and 2 and made cartoony artstyle, took 4 years to develop, terrible graphics worse than crapsoles, WoW textures, monsters copy pasted out of WoW, shoulderpads on armor, Demon hunter using a copy paste graphics from sylvanas in WoW, cheesy "health orbs", no more loot grab, no more PK, dumbed down inventory, Stupid WoW style arenas, gameplay that looks like it would fit in with crapsole titles such as god of war with over the top slash, removed pentagramms, replaced necro with some crappy witch doctor class.

Despite these shortcomings I was still wiling to give them benefit of the doubt for being PC exclusive, but now making Diablo 3 for crapsoles is the last straw, from now on I am boycotting Blizzard.
Wrong thread?

He's at it again, arguing "seat of the pants" against objective evidence from unbiased sources.

I've had this discussion with him over 9,000 times. It's usually "overclocking the north bridge makes the Deneb faster/as fast as an i7" despite no proof to support his assertion. If asked for proof he brings up a page from Anandtech that shows some gains with northbridge overclocking. Respectable gains at that.. but they in -no way- convey the supposed "fact" that it makes Deneb "as fast as" Nehalem.

Even when shown proof that a stock 2.8ghz Lynnfield is hands down faster than a stock 3.5ghz 970 BE. Even when it's pointed out the Lynnfield is already faster to begin with, and is going to get a ~40% overclock.. Whereas the Deneb is going to get a ~15% overclock. He will not accept it. His will to believe is immeasurable.

OT: I hope Intel does preview Ivy at Computex.. there are a few haters on this board that swear it can't be done and that 22nm is all "smoke and mirrors" because "AMD had so many problems with 32nm, Intel can't possibly have 22nm already!!!oneone"

Oh my.. the conspiracy theories keep me coming back for more.
