Tri-Sli w/Triple Monitor - all on one card? - Page 4

I think there are a few mistakes in this thread.

3 monitors on SLI configuration, only works if you enable surround vision.
Without surround, all the cards except the first, are slave cards, which means you get output only from the first card.

You can still have surround, and still play on just one monitor. If you set the resolution to a single monitor, aka 1080p and set the game to full screen, it will only display on one monitor, all the horse power goes to the active monitor and the rest of the monitors will go blank.

If you run tri-sli 470s, you just connect one monitor per card, and each card is responsible for that monitor in surround when playing surround games (no longer works as a classic slave/master like in sli on single screen or 2-way sli and surround). This gives a much better performance and very high scaling.

If the OP wants to play on just one monitor in the middle, and browse in pronnet on the other two monitors on the sides, he will have to get a card which is not part of the SLI and is dedicated to these monitors only. But it also means he can't play with them.

On the other hand, eyefinity will allow him to play on them as well, as it is much more flexible over surround.

Basically this. I ended up buying a cheap card that had hdmi/dvi so I could run the two other monitors. Thanks for the comprehensive post +rep

With windows7, if you want extra displays, you can put in any GPU from anyone, so long as you don't want to use the SLi and multi-display gaming. There was a time recently I was running my 3rd display on an ATi 4350, it's now on a 9400GT for now, until my second 460 gets here.

It seems like a really handy feature. I ended up buying this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814500164

However, I don't really see why Nvidia and ATI can't just learn from each other. Display ports are goooooood.

Nvidia don't add DP outputs as its not widely spread enough to have to pay for patent use for it.
At least this is my guess.

Also I believe that the main reason why eyefinity and surround are so different, is the need to not being accused of patent stealing, and to support 3D better on nvidia side.

You can't run Nvidia Surround anyway, seeing as you have two different resolutions. Nobody seemed to catch onto that. 2650x1600 in the middle, and 1080p in portrait mode on the sides....that won't work in Surround.

Your idea to get a fourth card was correct. Definitely the easiest way to get it done .

It was already talked about.
The OP wants to move to single monitor instead of surround and just use his two 1080P on the sides, and wanted to know how to connect them.

People actually read what he wanted and answered that a few times already

I know it was already talked about, hence why I said that his idea to get the fourth card WAS the correct idea.
