This is my first build, so I dont even know how to overclock yet but I have a rough idea. And as for benchmarking, I no longer have a credit card to buy a program and do that.

You're building a computer, most non-techies get so impressed with that you could build it with a birds nest worth of wiring inside and they'd still believe it if you told them it took a fortnight to assemble.

Honestly, when I don't build a new rig for a couple of years, it takes 100 hours just to research.

To be completely honest with you, someone who has no idea of how to build a computer will believe it took you 15 hours to put it together.

lol, know that feeling, been planning for my build since june last year and still researching, needs to be done to get best results,i check all the reviews i can find before i purchase anything, need to speed my build up though or the stuff i have will be defunct.
Like its took me a while to plan my build but I doubt my teacher would accept planning as working. Also hes pretty smart. He would know just the build didnt take 15 hours.

Heres an idea. Maybe actually invest 15 hours worth of time into your build and you might be surprised with the results. I can guarantee you that I have more than 15 in my build from the custom built tech station to lapping, everything is to perfection, and I wouldnt want it any other way

I don't see why this is so much of an issue. The build its self (being your first) can take you anywhere from an hour to four hours. Then once you get into overclocking you can easily spend about 12 hours overlcocking, stress testing, revising your overclock and benchmarking. It won't be hard to convince someone that these are all necessary steps because well... they actually are!
