How do you come out with 50% faster?


Whats similar dual core? Phenom II?

If thats the case it's 100% 100% 100% vs 90% 90% 90% 90%

Which comes to 20% faster than a x6.

I know I'm wrong, just trying to figure out where you're getting 50%.

So adding another module that makes it 8 core's will essentially be 50% faster at the same clock speed as Phenom X6 (theoretically).
Thats what AMD have been saying for a long time, this is nothing new. 50% more throughput for 33% more cores. Though how you arrived at that from the article is beyond me.

It's been stated many times that it's 90% of a fully featurded Bulldozer, hence "similar native dual-core processor", not 90% of a Phenom II core.

Whats a fully featured Bulldozer?

There is more than one Bulldozer architecture? Did they disable some of the features and you can unlock them by pressing 4?

Thats all well and good, problem is software is well behind hardware and in a very large number of applications 8 cores won't make any difference from 4 cores. That is why amd HAS to bridge the IPC gap, if they don't their cpu will be all over the place in performance depending on what application is being run whereas a sandy bridge cpu that has much faster individual cores will outperform it in a majority of applications despite bulldozer having twice as many cores. Faster cores will almost always, always outperform having many slower cores outside of encoding and video/photo editing. That's not to say adding more cores isn't a good thing but they have to increase the speed of each individual core along with upping the core count.

"A similar dual core" = A bulldozer that doesn't share resources between cores. Basically when both cores in a single module are being used, the cores could perform better if they had their own resources. But when only one core in the module is being used, more performance is possible because it can use the resources the other core is not using.

300% vs 360% , how is that 20% faster. To me it looks like 60% faster but I scaled it down to 50% because not all the time will every core be at load.

Also look at this great chart. Less clock's firing is less heat and power produced and needed. So essentially higher clock's can be had at the same envelope. And hardly any power consumption when modules are idle.
