500 dollar gaming build. Comments/Suggestions/Help

post #1 of 12
Thread Starter
I'm building a 500 dollar-ish gaming PC.

I've attached a screen shot with what I have so far.

I just wanted to double check to see if all the components I've selected can coexist together or if there's anything obvious I've missed/forgot/didn't know about.

Im no expert but that should be a pretty solid build :] Id wait and get a quad core though more bang for your buck. That X3 is nicely priced though

doesnt look too bad

the gts450 is kinda weak for a $120 video card imo
250 = 450 preformance, i got a 250 for $99ar a year ago

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-338-_-Product

the monitor isnt 1920x1080 or higher

are you near a microcenter?

I disagree, the 450 is a wonderful card and surpasses a 250. It's perfect for 120$ and there is no other card in this price range that can perform similar. Plus, it does have a better resale value as well as DX11. But, it does run BFBC2 on low settings @ 40fps. With that 3core cpu though it might run better than on my E5300.

I would though suggest changing the case to the NZXT gamma http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811146061 and the monitor to the one I own: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-266-_-Product Fantastic 1080p for the price.

Also, I'd suggest swapping the PSU to this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-029-_-Product and mobo to

Wow, this looks really good. I can't see anything about this build that isn't completely superior to what I picked out.

I'm going to go with the Reaper memory because of the rebate and the hardcore looking heatpipes.

Edit: Actually, I'm curious, is there a reason I should go with the case and PSU you picked out rather than the case (with PSU) that I picked out?
