No silly, I did my research. I went from the standard ones, 1850 RPM's to the overkill ones, 4250 RPMs. However the 4250's I were shipped were only 3 pin and I wanted to have them have 4 pin. I believe they make them with 4 pin, because the extra solder joint was there and I used it. This was in an attempt to keep my 4.8 overclock in the summer, and still have reasonable temperatures. I had 4.8 stable in the early spring, and keep in mind I'm in Maine, so they were colder ambient temperatures I was working with.
And I learned a lesson: While the 3 to 4 pin conversion went flawlessly, going higher than 1850 RPMs push pull on a 120mm radiator has a somewhat negligible effect... Particularly when the ambient temperature isn't air conditioned. Sure I got it down a few more degrees, but dear lord even headphones wont cure this noise.
So here are my tentative plans: drop down to 4.7, or lower, today and stabilize that, fold again.
However, there's another thing I need to consider and that's hospital bills so the expense of folding may be put on hold at some point in the near future when those get in...Edited by ShtKck - 7/7/12 at 10:41am
