128GB C300 on 780i MoBo

Thread Starter
I just pulled the trigger and ordered
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148348

Will there be any problem running this on my EVGA 780i MoBo with older bio's as I can't seem to get mine updated?

On a side note, I also ordered Win 7 as I hear you need it to take advantage of SSD's.

You are correct on the Win7 front. Win7 is the only operating system that can pass TRIM commands to the drive to keep the SSD in optimal working order.

Also, you should have no problem using the SSD on your older BIOS. The only things that a newer BIOS may offer over the older one are AHCI mode (versus IDE) which will improve performance, and maybe ACPI 2.0 options.

Regardless, you will have no trouble getting it to work at the very least... it just might not perform to 100% of it's ability.
